About Retro Tapes
Retro Tapes is a cluster slot from Push Gaming released in 2026. The game runs on an unusually large 9×6 grid and an aesthetic pulled straight from the 80s: colorful cassette tapes in six colors fill the reels, styled in bright neon.
Volatility is high. Cascades, multipliers and bonus triggers build tension across multiple cascading steps. The Wild Tape symbol is the core mechanic: it collects multipliers across cascades while doubling as the scatter for the Top Charts bonus.
Six colors, one grid, countless cluster combinations, and high volatility that rewards patience with real win potential.
Game Theme & Design
The design pulls directly from 80s cassette-tape aesthetics. Six symbol types are told apart by color: red, orange, purple, green, blue and grey. Each tape has a clearly readable color, so cluster connections on the dense 9×6 grid are easy to spot.
Wild Tape: Multiplier Wild and Scatter
The Wild Tape symbol is the most important mechanic in Retro Tapes. It substitutes for all regular symbols except the Magnet symbol and the Wild Multiplier symbol, and collects a multiplier spin after spin.
Every Wild Tape starts with a multiplier of 1x. Each time it takes part in a cluster win, its multiplier goes up by 1, one increase per cascade step it's active in.
Once no further cluster wins land, the Wild Tape leaves the grid. This moment is known as a "spin-off". The Wild Tape also acts as a scatter symbol: landing 3 or more Wild Tape symbols at once triggers the Top Charts feature. Wild Tape symbols and any multipliers they've built up carry over into the bonus round. Every new Wild Tape that appears during the Top Charts feature adds +2 free spins.
Wild Multiplier and Instant Prizes
The Wild Multiplier symbol appears in both the base game and the Top Charts feature, carrying a fixed value of 1x, 2x, 3x or 5x. Once it lands on the grid, it hands that multiplier to every visible Wild Tape symbol.
After distributing its value, the Wild Multiplier symbol turns into an Instant Prize symbol with a random value. The chain runs: Wild Multiplier boosts the Wild Tape, then becomes an Instant Prize itself.
The Instant Prize symbol is a stake multiplier, paid out once a cluster of at least 5 Instant Prize symbols forms. Possible values run from 1x to 1,000x: 1x, 2x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x, 500x, 1,000x. Multiple Instant Prize clusters in the same round are scored separately.
Cascading Wins and the Magnet Feature
Retro Tapes runs entirely on cascading wins. At the start of each spin cycle every position fills with symbols. Whenever a cluster wins, the involved symbols are removed. The remaining symbols drop down, and new symbols fill the empty spots from above.
This repeats until no more cluster wins appear, then a new spin begins.
The Magnet symbol actively reshapes the grid. It randomly picks symbols of one kind from anywhere on the grid and pulls them toward its position. The result is a cluster win built from symbols that started out scattered. If at least 4 Instant Prize symbols are visible, the Magnet can pull those in too. After the cluster win, the Magnet itself turns into a paying symbol or an Instant Prize symbol with a random value.
Top Charts Feature
The Top Charts feature is Retro Tapes' bonus round. It triggers when 3 or more Wild Tape symbols land on the grid at once. The number of free spins depends directly on how many Wild Tapes trigger it:
- 3 Wild Tape symbols: 6 free spins
- 4 Wild Tape symbols: 8 free spins
- 5 Wild Tape symbols: 10 free spins
- 6 Wild Tape symbols: 12 free spins
On entering the bonus, Wild Tape symbols and Instant Prize symbols carry over from the base game and lock into their positions.
Symbols in the Bonus
The following symbols can land on the free positions of the grid during the Top Charts feature:
- Wild Tape symbol – adds to the already-locked Wild Tapes and grants +2 free spins
- Wild Multiplier symbol – hands its multiplier to the Wild Tapes and becomes an Instant Prize
- Instant Prize symbols – stay locked in place for the rest of the feature
- Magnet symbol – works the same as in the base game
- Extra Spin symbol – grants 1 or 2 extra free spins, then turns into an Instant Prize symbol with a random value
- Blank Tape symbol – pays nothing and doesn't stay locked on the grid
Scoring the Instant Prizes
All Instant Prize clusters are scored at the end of the feature, not while free spins are running. Instant Prize symbols keep accumulating in their locked positions for the whole bonus round. The round ends automatically once there's no free space left for new symbols.
Symbols and Paytable
Wins in Retro Tapes come from clusters of at least 5 adjacent symbols, connected horizontally or vertically. A symbol can belong to more than one cluster, but only the largest cluster win pays out for that group. All values here reflect a stake of $0.50.

FAQ
The Wild Tape starts with a multiplier of 1x. Each time it takes part in one or more cluster wins, its multiplier goes up by 1. Once no further cluster wins land, the Wild Tape leaves the grid. This is called a spin-off.
The Wild Multiplier distributes its value (1x, 2x, 3x or 5x) to every visible Wild Tape symbol, then turns into an Instant Prize symbol with a random value. The transformation happens in the same cascade.
3 Wild Tape symbols give 6 free spins, 4 give 8, 5 give 10 and 6 give 12 free spins. Every new Wild Tape that appears during the feature adds +2 free spins.
The Magnet symbol randomly picks symbols of one kind from anywhere on the grid and pulls them toward its position. The result is a cluster win built from symbols that started out scattered. It can also pull in Instant Prize symbols if at least 4 are visible. Afterward the Magnet turns into a paying symbol or an Instant Prize symbol with a random value.
The Singles Feature costs 100x the stake and allows up to 6 Wild Tape symbols on entry. The Hits Feature costs 400x and additionally guarantees a Wild Multiplier symbol at the start. Both options carry an RTP of 96.71%.
Instant Prize clusters are scored at the end of the Top Charts feature, not while free spins are running. Symbols stay locked in their positions and keep accumulating for the whole bonus round. The round ends once there's no free space left.
